Carter County Court System

Which Carter Office Has Records

Carter County Criminal Records

Criminal court records in Carter County may begin in District Court and later move to Circuit Court, depending on charge level. Carter County Records Fees

Published Carter County fees are strongest for County Clerk records and marriage copies. Current court filing fees should be verified with the Circuit Court Clerk because KCOJ announced civil filing fee changes effective July 1, 2026. Carter County Public Access Rules

Kentucky's Open Records Act gives a written-request path for nonexempt public records, but court case access works through the clerk of the court that heard the case.
